Cynthia Director Studio is a home textile company dedicated to infusing your living spaces with originality and warmth. Our passion lies in crafting unique home decor products that seamlessly blend artisanal techniques and original artwork with the timeless beauty of natural fabrics.
We take pride in our commitment to preserving traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern design sensibilities. Each of our designs originates from an original artwork, meticulously crafted to capture the essence of creativity and inspiration. These designs then journey to the skilled hands of artisans in India, where blocks are carved, and prints are meticulously applied onto high-quality natural fabrics. We believe in the unparalleled elegance and sustainability of natural fibers which is why we exclusively source materials such as linen and cotton.
But what truly sets us apart is our dedication to the art of handmade excellence. Every product in our collection, whether a cushion adorning your sofa or a tea towel adding charm to your kitchen, is lovingly crafted by hand. This human touch infuses each piece with a sense of individuality and craftsmanship that simply cannot be replicated by mass production.
Founder and designer Cynthia Director has been working in the fashion textiles space for over twenty years. She started her career in New York City and then lived and worked in India for over a decade. While living in India she travelled extensively throughout the country learning about different craft techniques.
Cynthia has her BFA in textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design and her M.A. from University of the Arts London, Chelsea College of Art and Design. Besides running her design studio, Cynthia teaches textile design at The Fashion Institute of Technology and consults with design clients. She divides her time between New York City and Bombay/New Delhi, India.
